Say what you want about Mr.West but the guy truly does make a lot of sense.
I went to the Wireless festival on Saturday and he was our headliner. Not only is he a true performer who kept churning out hit after hit much to the excitement of my friends and I, but he speaks words of wisdom which may not be believable to many due to how he is portrayed in the media.Okay, fair enough he did kinda waste 15 minutes of his set going off on a tangent when he could have been performing songs like ‘Gold Digger’ or ‘Homecoming’. But, to be perfectly honest, I’m glad he did.
From what he said I got that despite being a shy person and finding it difficult to come out of your shell, once you find what you love to do and what makes you happy, you should RUN WITH IT. He said that people will constantly act as barriers to you achieving your destiny but that in order to ensure those barriers don’t suffocate you, you need to be yourself and be free to be who you are. I mean, he didn’t say those exact words but it was the gist of it-( I swear my guy speaks in parables. He told about 4 different stories to convey this to us but we love him anyway) I was greatly inspired by his words and was so happy that I came because his performance blew me away.
So, I believe I’ve found what I love to do- writing and even though right now I feel like I’m merely jogging with it- it’s a start, allowing greater things to come. Kanye West may not be the perfect embodiment of a ‘role model’, he may truly be in the ‘illuminati’ and a bad influence on the youth of today but to be perfectly honest, I think he’s a ‘real model’ (stolen from tupac ) who doesn’t sugar coat his thoughts based on the crowd he had around him- I mean people were booing him constantly for goodness’ sake! And this guy refused to stop. He had something to say and he said it.
I hope and pray that now and forevermore I have the same bravery in speaking up when I have something that needs to be said.
Peace & Love,
T
