So on Wednesday I attended my first ever session at the Hillsong Conference. Trust me when I say, this was the one of the best decisions I’ve made and I am most definitely getting my money’s worth!
Last night, I heard a message from Pastor Craig Groeschel concerning the removal of personal deep rooted issues. I am well aware this is something everyone has if not, I doubt you’re human. But anyway, I felt extremely inspired by what he said and felt it was only kind for me to share his message with y’all:
What is the biggest enemy of Faith?
The Familiar is the greatest enemy of Faith. This is when we are used to expecting what IS instead of looking towards what COULD BE with God.
The longer a problem persists, the more you think it can’t be solved.
The longer a problem exists the more excuses you tend to make.
The longer a problem exists, the longer we learn to compensate.
You cannot change what you are willing to tolerate. The healing will not begin until your desire becomes bigger than you disability.
It takes tremendous Faith to step away from the familiar. To step towards your destiny, you must step away from your security and where you are most comfortable.
You can’t help someone who NEEDS help. You can only helps someone who WANTS help.
Becoming obsessed with what people think sways you away from knowing what God thinks.
Healing does not come in the way you expect. Simply draw nearer to God and he will transform you completely.
(I know my recount of what he said appears quite ‘tit-bitty’ but what works for me are short, quick quotes that will come in handy at peak points of stress. So hopefully it works for you as well!)
I honestly felt like the message was specially designed for me which is the beauty about events Hillsong hosts! The message made me look inwards to deep rooted issues I have- one of them being, as you probably have guessed from the title of this post; my people-pleasing attitude. He admitted that he has struggled with this persona for a long time as well which made me feel more at ease. What I found from this message, is that at the end of the day, we’ve all been put on this earth for a purpose, NO ONE is a mistake! So, I feel as though the one who governs that purpose i.e. God is the only person who can ever judge you in any way. How he views you is all that matters and it’s a simple as that. And he will never have a negative view of you because he is a loving and caring God who accepts you even at your worst.
After hearing this message, I felt a sense of calmness in my spirit, because I felt as though God completely understands my predicament! He sees those times where I can never utter the words ‘no’ and thereby not be true to myself and who he’s created me to be. I feel so blessed to have heard that message because I feel that I can have the courage to step out in faith and continue to pray that as I do, only greater things will result from it.
So, I pray you all stay blessed and realise that the same way God is building me to step away from my timidity and fear, he will do so for you as well concerning each and every one of your personal deep rooted issues. You will exist as a ‘person’ and not a ‘pleaser’ and will be happy with this person God develops you to be. Amen.
Peace & Love,
