So I’m sat here going through some English notes and I’ve stumbled across a quote that made me laugh and think simultaneously:
‘A writer should not allow himself to be turned into an institution’
– Jean Paul-Sartre
Sartre was a French Philosopher who had been offered the Noble Prize in 1964 but refused it due to those very words that have been immortalised (well on Wikipedia at least).
I just found it interesting because it reminded me why I write. Even though it’d be GREAT to get public recognition, it’s still more rewarding looking through what I’ve written and knowing that God has given me a gift of articulating certain things through the means of writing. I’ve been reminded to remain humble in ALL I do, not just writing. Humility takes you higher than you can ever imagine.
Peace & Love,
