All of that screams to me AVOID but at least it’s a word that creates a feeling, that creates an opinion and after watching the incredible ‘Straight Outta Compton’, I feel as though I should be intrigued by certain types of danger rather than shy away from it.
It got me inspired to not just hear about things that may have explicit content but actually LISTEN because beneath their seemingly misgoynistic and violent lyrics lay a lifestyle that many were invited to observe from; as Ice Cube says: ‘a safe distance.’ In this way it really opened up the minds of many to understand various things from police brutality to racism.
Although my mind is running with incredible things to say about this movie all I can think of is this:
GO AND WATCH IT.
